The awards ceremony of the 'Crescent and Stars of Packaging 2022 Competition', organized for the tenth time this year by the ASD Turkish Packaging Manufacturers Association, took place. This year, a record number 278 packages that applied to the competition were evaluated in 12 different categories and 126 packages were awarded. Pop Star Candan Erçetin appeared on the stage at the organization where the 30th anniversary of the association was celebrated and more than 350 guests attended. Stating that the interest in the competition was pleasing, Mr. Zeki Sarıbekir, President of ASD said: "We are also celebrating the 30th anniversary of ASD, the umbrella organization of the packaging industry, which closed 2021 with 6.5 billion dollars in exports. As an association we work with all our might for the industry. We will reach our 2023 target of 8 billion dollars in 2022. We have set our 2023 target as 10 billion dollars."

Mr. Zeki Sarıbekir, President of the ASD Turkish Packaging Manufacturers Association, stated that the packaging manufacturers, brand owners and designers participated in the competition with their existing packaging for the last two years and added that the competition received high interest from both domestic and overseas participants. Mr. Sarıbekir said: "As a result of evaluation from ease of use and production quality to environmental sensitivity, design to originality, a total of 126 packages were finalized. We celebrate the packages that received the Gold, Silver, Bronze and Competency Awards. The 'Gold Packaging Awards', which we also awarded in cooperation with the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE), among the winners of the 'Gold Award', was another source of pride for our competition. We are pleased to see that the understanding that the road to value-added exports goes through design has been increasingly adopted. In addition, all winners will be able to participate and represent Türkiye in the WorldStar and AsiaStar competitions, accredited by the World Packaging Organization (WPO) and Asian Packaging Federation (APF). We wish them success in advance."

WE WILL ACHIEVE OUR 2023 TARGET IN 2022

Mr. Zeki Sarıbekir stated that ASD, the umbrella organization of the packaging industry, which closed 2021 with 6.5 billion dollars of export value, celebrated its 30th anniversary and emphasized that since their establishment as an association they have been continuing to work with all their might to contribute to the development of the packaging industry. Reminding that they have revised their targets for the end of this year, Mr. Zeki Sarıbekir said: "We believe that we will achieve the 8 billion dollars level that we have set as our 2023 export target by the end of this year. The available figures show this. In the first 6 months of 2022, the exports of the sector increased by 11.4 percent compared to the same period of 2021, from 1 million 485 thousand tons to 1 million 654 thousand tons. In the said period, the increase in value was 25.2 percent. The export of the packaging industry increased from 3 billion dollars to 3.8 billion dollars. This demonstrates once again that our country gained a reliable market position in the packaging industry. As a result of all these developments, we expect more than 15 thousand foreign visitors and a total of 80 thousand industry professionals to visit the 27th Eurasia Packaging Istanbul Fair, which we will organize at Tüyap Fair and Congress Center between 12-15 October this year. We are expecting you to join our enthusiasm for the exhibition."
