Turkey Names ‘World Packaging Crescents and Stars'

The countdown to the most prestigious competition in the packaging industry which plays a key role in the marketing and sale of products has begun. The deadline for applications for the ‘2016 Packaging Crescents and Stars Competition', organized by the Turkish Packaging Manufacturers Association (ASD), is 3 June.

Beginning from this year, the Competition will also feature the following categories: "luxury packaging”, "packaging components” and "packaging machinery, equipment and technology”.

The ‘2016 Packaging Crescents and Stars Competition', organized by the Packaging Manufacturers Association (ASD) and recognized as the most prestigious of its kind in Turkey, was opened for applications on 1 February. The Competition, being organized for the 7^th time, has been serving as a platform for many diverse and innovative packaging projects and has already become a national brand. Naming the world's Packaging Crescents and Stars, ASD started to accept applications from abroad, too, last year.

Packaging manufacturers, suppliers, designers and packaging brand owners may participate in the Competition with their packaging products. As part of the Competition, unique and innovative packaging designs and practices leaving their marks on the global packaging industry receive various awards.

With the addition of the above-said three award categories, the international Competition has become even more exciting this year and features awards for packaging in the following individual categories:

"- Food, Beverages, Electronic and Electrical Supplies, Healthcare and Cosmetic Products, Household Products, Automotive, Office Equipment and Supplies, Packaging for Other Non-food Products, Medical and Pharmaceutical Products, Industrial and Transportation Packaging, Packaging Materials and Components, POS Display, Presentation and Storage Products, Flexible Packaging, Graphic Design, Luxury Packaging*, Packaging Machinery, Equipment and Technology*”

The Competition, which has become a traditional one, is intended to help local packaging brands and manufacturers gain competitive strength in the international packaging market. Competitors ranking in the top four in the Competition, where unique packaging designs and practices are awarded the Gold, Silver, Bronze and Competency prizes, gain international recognition as the Competition is accredited by both the World Packaging Organization (WPO) and Asian packaging Federation (APF). This year, ASD, jointly with the Turkish Standards Institute, will also select "Golden Packages” from among the packages meriting the Gold Award.

The application deadline for the ‘2016 Packaging Crescents and Stars Competition' is 3 June and all the winners will be presented their awards at a ceremony which will be held in Istanbul on 23 September 2016.
